So Why Chose Education Data Hub?
Our team is made up of highly qualified and experienced people, all of whom have worked in front line education, so know the culture, systems and idiosyncrasies of schools, but most importantly are friendly and supportive.
From humble beginnings
Education Data Hub started in 2017 with one person whose job it was to assess what support schools in Derbyshire wanted to help them towards compliance with the new GDPR.
The answer was a lot! So the GDPRforSchools service was formed. Starting with 30 pilot schools, our team of qualified Data Protection Officers has now grown to offer support to more than 350 schools, academies and Multi Academy Trusts, not only across Derbyshire but nationally.
To all things Cyber
Whilst the DPO team were working with schools, they noticed that many schools also needed help assessing and understanding their cyber security requirements.
So the Cyber Security Service was born, with the team quickly achieving recognition for its pioneering work with schools and, who we are proud to say have worked alongside the DfE, the National Cyber Security Centre and IASME, supporting schools nationwide in achieving cyber resilience, and more lately supporting schools in meeting the new DfE Cyber Security Standards for schools through engagement with our Cyber Ready Project.
…safeguarding in a digital world
It was inevitable that Online Safety be incorporated into our Services. In this digital world, children are users of tech from a very young age. Through awareness and education, the risk of Online Harm can be mitigated.
Our Team recognised the requirement to provide accessible and no-nonsense training for schools to support their understanding of key statutory safeguarding guidance to help keep everyone safe.
Add a pinch of Data Management
Adding Data Management to the fold was a natural choice. Our team had a wealth of experience amongst them, working within schools to help them build better systems and processes or to review the efficiency of what they already had, and so we decided to make this a permanent service.
This new service complimented our existing services, bringing schools a complete information governance and security offering, and from this we developed our vision …“to enable schools to become secure, efficient, and trusted handlers of information”.
Becoming Education Data Hub
The Education Data Hub now brings together Data Protection, Cyber Security and Data Management which include software licences, training, policies, helpline as well as full support services.
